Dr. Grant utilizes a variety of techniques to help her patients heal properly. No two patients have the exact same problem, so she customizes her treatment plan accordingly. Dr. Grant uses the following techniques:Activator Method:
Activator method is a proprietary diagnostic and treatment system based on the belief that differences in leg length indicate the need for spinal adjustments. The technique utilizes a small handheld instrument, called an activator, with a soft rubber tip to deliver a light, circumscribed force to the area deemed in need of treatment.
Cervical drop is a feature of a chiropractic treatment table that allows the height of the headpiece to be adjusted. The height of the headpiece can be set based on the amount of tension in the neck.
Flexion Lumbar Distraction:
Chiropractic flexion-distraction technique treats disc injuries
involving back and leg pain. A specialized table is used to gently
stretch the spine to isolate the problematic area.
Gonstead procedures are the result of extensive clinical research by
Clarence S.Gonstead, founder of the world famous Gonstead Clinic of
Chiropractic in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin and his associates. Doctor
Gonstead's fifty-five years of continuous practice and over four
million chiropractic adjustments resulted in the most complete method
of biomechanical analysis available for use by today's doctors of
The Gonstead Concept of chiropractic begins with a basic biomechanical principle of physics. Every engineer, architect, builder and carpenter knows the importance of a proper foundation in constructing a building, for this insures durability and long life. Any slight change or shift in the foundation can cause a great amount of deviation in the top part of the structure and, perhaps, ultimately, its collapse.
The body's foundation is formed by the pelvic girdle. When this bony structure consisting of hip bones and the lower bones of the back is level, there will be maximum balance and stability in the spinal column. When the pelvic girdle or any of the vertebrae (bones making up the spinal column) become tilted or rotated out of their proper position, dramatic changes may occur in the body.
Nimmo / Trigger Point:
The Nimmo technique uses compression to alleviate extremely tense muscles or trigger points that have suffered from trauma, poor posture, chills, and emotional stress.
Palmer package is a system of chiropractic care taught by the Palmer College of Chiropractic. It includes a variety of techniques. The main ones being: Diversified, Thomson, Gonstead, and Toggle Recoil. Diversified consists of spinal analysis to identify the improper position of one or more vertebrae, and the administration of a manual thrust. Thomson uses a special table with drop-away sections to minimize the amount of energy needed to adjust the spine. In Gonstead, the practitioner uses a small heat-sensing instrument and full-spine X-rays, then has the patient sit, kneel, or lie on her side so adjustments can be made. Finally, Toggle Recoil consists of the administration of a high-speed, low-force thrust to the upper spine.
Thompson Drop Technique:
The Thompson Technique is a chiropractic adjustment performed on a table in which cushions drop an inch or two when a thrust is applied to the spine. Practitioners locate subluxations (dislocations or problems with the vertebrae) by checking leg length.
In chiropractic traction-massage, a system of rollers moves up and down the spine, gently massaging and stretching muscles, while the patient lies face up with a pillow under the knees. Usually performed just before an adjustment, traction-massage is designed to relax the spine, thereby making the adjustment easier to perform and more comfortable and beneficial.
As our commitment to serving you is of the highest importance, we are extremely excited to have this exciting technology available in our community. The Insight Subluxation Station™ is a non invasive technology designed to screen five components of your nervous system.
The Insight™ technology is used as one of our primary assessment measures to help us identify areas of tension and imbalance of the spine that cause nerve interference. This nervous system interference, known as a subluxation, disturbs the body's core communication pathways and lead to blockages in the body's ability to cope and adapt appropriately to its environment. Over time, this will result in a system that breaks down, creating a variety of health challenges, such as generalized fatigue, loss of energy, increased frequency of colds, digestive troubles, and joint and muscle aches and pains.
We believe that the only effective way to communicate the vision of wellness based Chiropractic Care is to show the patients how they are, objectively, using technology designed to measure their physiology. The Subluxation Station does this. We can now measure how the patient's body is before care commences and re-measure as the patient continues with Chiropractic Care. There is no guessing. There is no longer the over reliance on symptoms alone. These tests will tell you how your patients are responding to your care and highlight the need for them to continue beyond their symptoms into wellness care.
